How I Drink Yerba Mate Video

(By YerbaMateDrinker.com)

I have made this Yerba Mate video to walk through the entire process of how I prepare and drink Yerba Mate. I like to use a coffee machine to make my mate water. For me it's the perfect temperature. Some people like the water a bit hotter. However, I have burned my lips too many times on Mate' water that is just too hot. In the video I am using Rosamonte Yerba Mate. That is my absolute favorite Yerba! Best I ever has. Especially the Rosamonte Especial. Wonderful stuff!

I hope this video was helpful. Now share and enjoy some Yerba Mate with friends :

How Remove Dust From Your Yerba
...and stop your Bombilla from clogging
(By YerbaMateDrinker.com)

I recently received a question from a visitor in regards to her Bombilla clogging when she had her Yerba Mate. Below is her question and my answer. You might find this helpful.

"Hello Yerba Mate Drinker, I am a beginner maté drinker looking for tips. I found your website very helpful, but I'm still having trouble. After two or three refills I start getting pieces of yerba through the bombilla and I don't like that. Is that how it's supposed to be, or am I doing something wrong? Also, I've seen some people face the bombilla the other way so it rests along the slope of yerba: do you know what difference that makes? Thank you so much for helping me out!

Larisa"

"Hi Larisa,
Nice to hear from you. Sorry about the Yerba bits getting up your straw. This is what I have found. First, you need to have the correct Bombilla. I Highly recommend the bombilla with the spring. Here is a good example for a Yerba Mate Bombilla with Spring. The Bombilla with Spring will really make a huge difference in regards to not clogging. Second, I never heard of putting the bombilla in the opposite way. I learned how to drink Mate' in Argentina and all the Argentine's I drank mate' with put the straw in the way I am describing. Third, If you are getting anything up your straw it is most likely Yerba Dust, Yerba particles small enough to get through the holes in the Bombilla. There are two things you have to two to prevent the dust getting in your Mate gourd. 1.) When you open you new fresh bag of Yerba (Oh what a glorious thing that is), Go outside and shake the bag. You will see a huge cloud of green dust coming out of the bag. This is Yerba dust and there is usually a lot of it in a fresh bag of Yerba. Then, get a small Tupperware container and pour some Yerba into that. Use Tupperware container that has a cover so you can seal it. Now go outside again and shake the Tupperware container and you will still see more dust floating into the air from the container. Then when you fill your gourd, fill it using a spoon from the Tupperware to the gourd. This will prevent a lot of dust from getting into your gourd and potentially up into your straw. Hope that helps.

Cheers! Anthony"
